Monday Night Raw Thoughts

It’s kind of weird that John Cena will be defending the World Championship against JBL at the Royal Rumble, however, the actual Royal Rumble match is what sells the pay-per-view so anything else on the show is secondary. JBL is not a main event guy and the Cena-JBL match is not the main event, so that’s why this can work.

I’m not sure why Jerry Lawler and Shawn Michaels referenced Wrestlemania so often last night and the thought of a Michaels-JBL match at ‘Mania would be a bummer. Michaels can steal the show with virtually anybody, yet with JBL I’m not so sure. I’m hoping for a Michaels-Undertaker match at Mania, but won’t hold my breath.

Melina is one of the few women in the W.W.E. that is a good wrestler and not just all looks, having her against Phoenix at the Royal Rumble has the potential to be a good match.

The six-woman battle royale - which featured Candice Michelle, Kelly Kelly and Mickie James (all pictured) along with Melina, Katie Lea and Jillian was too quick.

The 10-man tag was overdone…

Despite the fact that W.W.E. is more PG these days, Randy Orton told Kelly Kelly that it was just one night with her and it wasn’t all that special. Hmmmm….

I love watching Rey Mysterio in the ring. He doesn’t have the right guys to work with, but he’s still great fun to see.

I’ve heard the horror stories about Vince McMahon screaming into the announcers’ headsets, well I felt like screaming into Michael Cole’s headset after all of the mistakes he made last night. Rough night at the office, indeed. But we’ve all had ‘em.
