Ric Flair Day

We’re just a few days away from the biggest event in “sports entertainment,” that being Wrestlemania 24 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

Meanwhile, today is “Ric Flair Day” in Columbia, South Carolina, where this evening’s Monday Night Raw is being held. Flair (pictured above on the campaign trail several months ago and to the left of Mike Huckabee) will be given the key to the city by Columbia’s mayor and is slated to speak tonight on Raw in what probably will be a pretty emotional “goodbye” speech by the former 16-time heavyweight champion of the world.

He’ll face Shawn Michaels on Sunday, with of course the continual stipulation standing, which is that if Flair loses, his career is done. Ric Flair will be inducted into the W.W.E. Hall of Fame on Saturday night, reportedly by Triple H, although Jack Nicholson had been rumored. This presumably stemmed from some comments made by the actor a few years ago that he would love to induct Flair into the Hall.

I’ll have more on the Flair-Michaels match and my other Wrestlemania predictions and some flashbacks as the week continues…
