September 19 will be an interesting evening. That's when boxing and mixed martial arts will go one on one. UFC 103 takes place that night in Dallas as does Floyd Mayweather versus Juan Manuel Marquez in Las Vegas.
First, Golden Boy Promotions adds three matches to the undercard of the Mayweather show, then UFC says they will have a one hour lead-in show on Spike TV that evening with a couple of fights added. Now, Golden Boy says the Mayweather-Marquez bout will be seen in 170 movie theaters across the U.S. The promotion adds that this is the first time a fight has been shown in cinemas since "Sugar" Ray Leonard took on Roberto Duran in 1980.
By the way, that match is remembered by many as the "no mas" match. Those words were never actually uttered by Duran, but rather commentator, Howard Cosell.
Boxing is literally on the ropes these days and there is no question that Golden Boy will do everything possible to sell this match.
