The act of retiring numbers can become a joke after a while. Most hockey and Rangers’ fans love Adam Graves, so when it was announced that his No. 9 would get hoisted to the rafters of Madison Square Garden during the 2008-2009 season, no one laughed, but eyebrows were indeed raised.
People will debate whether or not Graves’ jersey should go to the top of Madison Square Garden, but what I am more interested in and happier about, is that Andy Bathgate’s No. 9 will be sent to the heavens of The Garden. I hoped for it in January and now thankfully it will happen!
The No. 9 of Andy Bathgate (pictured) and Harry Howell's No. 3 will both be retired during a ceremony before the Rangers-Maple Leafs game on February 22. Graves' number will be retired on February 3 before a game against Atlanta.

That's an EXCELLENT job by the Rangers.
Now let's retire a number for the Great Kilkelly, who advocated making it all possible!
