Pete Townshend & Phil Collins

I guess I'm in a Who state of mind. But anyway, Happy belated birthday (May 19) to The Who's Pete Townshend; one of my heroes! Here Pete Townshend performs Slit Skirts with Phil Collins on drums! Some other videos in tribute to Pete follow in the next couple of posts.

Sean, this is all great stuff tonight. Thankfully Phil Collins has returned to his Genesis roots because he had reached a point of irrelevance in my mind. The "Lion King" stuff might have won him an Oscar and other awards, but he lost some luster with me. During the era of this clip (gotta be mid-80's, based on the look), Phil was EVERYWHERE. Howard Jones? Phil's with him. Philip Bailey of Earth Wind and Fire? Ding! Solo stuff that was OK? Yep. Playing at BOTH locations of Live Aid? He was there. He bordered on being too cool - though never as cool as the early days of Genesis.

Great stuff tonight! After a positively awful day, there's nothing like music to soothe the savage beast.

Thanks Rob. Just to add to what you said, as a matter of fact I even saw Phil in an awful rap video a couple of years ago. I thought the rappers were kind of making him look like a loser, which he definitely is not.
