Thanks WNEW.com

My friends (I sound like John McCain with that one) over at WNEW.com posted an excerpt and a link from my review of The Who concert at the IZOD Center. Click this for more.

WNEW-FM is still around? I know that 102.7 still broadcasts, but it's hardly anything like it was in its heyday of the late 60's and 70's ...

In fact, the first Who concert that I ever saw was announced on WNEW-FM after a broadcast of the King Biscuit Flower Hour (featuring The Who at at the Cow Palace in SF) in the spring of '74 ... the notorious *4 nights at the Garden* shows in June of that year.
I believe it was Richard Neer who made the announcement?

I was at the last of the 4, friday night, where Pete & Co managed to bash up 4 (count 'em FOUR!) Les Paul guitars! WOW!!! Pete smashed the first, then Moonie did one in, and I think Rog got the next, with Pete finalizing the whole thing with a fourth ... what a mess!! /laughs

Cheers,
MM

Funny, I recently finished Mark Wilkerson's book on Pete Townshend and it talked about how PT was really upset about those shows at the Garden because he was so burnt out.
